Spring – a time of new growth

It's Spring again and with it comes the warmer weather. It's time for nurturing new growth and life that is starting to show its face in our award winning garden. We love to watch the tender new growth of our plants and the baby birds come to full maturity

A Beautiful Spring Day in Albany

We went on long beach walk today from Ledge Beach to Gull Rock. Gull Rock Beach named of course, because of the large number of Gulls found on the rock just off shore, one of whom Captain Kalgan thinks might have been Jonathan Livingstone! Gull Rock is 26k East of Albany. The water was a turquoise colour and we were tempted to jump in. Albany has some of the most stunning and pristine beaches in Australia if not the world. There are beaches for fishing, snorkelling, swimming, surfing and body boarding. Stay at HideAway Haven while in Albany and enjoy some time at the beach. We have facilities for washing bathers and towels at the end of a day at the beach.

Healthy Lifestyle Week

Its healthy lifestyle this week and the end of leave your car at home month. So after an easy day of Professional Learning in Albany, I grabbed the camera and went on a walk through the local bush. The wildflowers are out in full bloom. Lots of colours everywhere.

September in Australia

by Henry Kendall

Grey Winter hath gone like a wearisome guest,
And, behold, for repayment,
September comes in with the wind from the west
And the spring in her raiment!
The ways of the frost have been filled of the flowers,
While the forest discovers
Wild wings, with the halo of hyaline hours,
And the music of lovers.

September, the maid with the swift silver feet!
She glides and she graces
The valleys of coolness, the slopes of the heat,
With her blossomy traces;
Sweet month, with a mouth that is made of a rose,
She lightens and lingers
In spots where the harp of the evening glows,
Attuned by her fingers.

We, having a secret to others unknown,
In the cool mountain mosses,
May whisper together, September alone
Of our loves and our losses.
One word for her beauty, and one for the grace
She gave to the hours;
And then we may kiss her, and suffer her face
To sleep with the flowers.

Our Point of Difference

Our vision was to offer a unique facility no other accommodation provider offered. A challenging task, there are many specialty accommodations presently in Albany. We discovered no accommodation offered a Jacuzzi under the stars. So our accommodation dream began. This would be our focus, a selling point…’Enjoy a Jacuzzi under the stars!’ and so…

Nestled amongst towering eucalypts in Amazing Albany, just 5 minutes from the city centre, a haven of luxury and tranquillity now awaits....HideAway Haven.

Surrounded by native bushland and abundant bird life, we offer a truly Australian Luxury Accommodation experience in which comfort and privacy reign supreme. Architecturally designed, the exterior combines Colorbond and cedar to stunning effect, creating a design that's uniquely Australian and supremely stylish.

Step inside and you will experience the very best in luxurious contemporary accommodation.

HideAway Haven will fill a unique niche in its market. With Albany growing through new businesses, homes and the new waterfront more and more people are coming to the area for business and tourism reasons. HideAway Haven offers tourists and business travelers alike a unique, personalised lodging experience. By focusing on HideAway Haven’s proximity to the beach, the many hiking trails including the Bibbulum Track and the centre of the South Coast Wine Region, we will cater to people interested in water activities, hiking and those who like good food and good wine. HideAway Haven will also offer amenities to attract business travelers who enjoy the “homey” feeling of a bed and breakfast over the ambiance of a traditional style hotel.

Similar to tourists who choose to stay in traditional hotels, customers who patronize B&Bs seek relaxation, fun and stress management while on vacation. However, this type of customer also prefers comfortable accommodations in a cozy, family environment. These patrons are more social, they love meeting new people while at the same time require enough privacy to enjoy their vacation. HideAway Haven has all the necessary facilities to attract such customers.

We will ensure each guest’s stay is memorable by providing unlimited comfort and service. We have created an environment of pampered luxury surpassing any currently found in Albany. HideAway Haven has three guest rooms fully equipped with TV/DVD and comfortable beds. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom, large wardrobe and private deck with outdoor furniture.

In addition to room amenities, HideAway Haven offers a common room with fully equipped kitchen for guests to use if they wish to dine in. Also offering laundry facilities; including washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board. An extensive DVD library is available as are magazines and local newspapers. A Jacuzzi is situated outdoors under the stars.

Beginning the day we opened we have provided guests with the caring and outstanding quality of service. We serve a wide selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian breakfasts. We willingly accommodate guests with vegan, non-gluten or other specialised dietary requirements. With just 3 bedrooms in our accommodation, we have ample opportunity to ensure every guest receives the very best quality of service. We enjoy developing long-lasting friendships with many of our guests. If guests prefer peace and relaxation, we happily accommodate them and safeguard their privacy. Equally, we enjoy all the adventure of striking up new friendships with many of our guests and look forward to welcoming back former guests.

‘You are fantastic hosts and we can’t wait to visit this bit of paradise again’ Sal & Les (Sal is now our new web designer and editor)

’We wish we could have stayed longer’ Adina & Michael ( now close friends and visiting with both sets of parents in November)

Tourist in our own Town - Part 2

It was a beautiful Spring Day in Albany today so we continued to see our town through the eyes of tourists. We took a drive to Emu Point Boat Harbour which is situated in Oyster Harbour to look at fishermen bringing in their catch, pelicans looking for a feed, Sam the Seal's monument and had an early dinner at The Squid Shack. We enjoyed local Fish & Chips with Salt 'n' Pepper Squid.

Sam the Seal was loved for his friendly nature and was found bludgeoned to death. A bronze memorial of Sam is in position at Emu Point.

Emu Point Harbour is where you will find the Kalgan Queen, a boat with glass bottom viewing. They will take you on a tour that takes in the path of the first settlers as they discovered the natural and stunning beauty of Albany. Your tour includes Billy Tea and optional Wine Tasting.
