Another Amazing Dinner @ Joop Thai

When my brother comes to visit Albany he always makes time to pop in and see us.  This Sunday evening we headed off to Joop Thai with Mike, Camille and Michaela.  As always the food was amazing, the service first class and the atmosphere relaxed and cosy.

We were excited to learn the they are now also licensed which will make it convenient and easier for guests, who wont have to find a bottle shop before dinner.  Great job Lorella & Steve.  It's always good to go to a favourite restaurant and know the food is as good as the first time.

Our First 'The HideAway Infusion' Weekend

What happens when you mix great people with exquisite food in a very special spot

We have been anxiously waiting for our first 'The HideAway Infusion' weekend.   The HideAway Infusion is a day spent with Albany's very own celebrity chef, Daniel Sharp visiting the local farmers markets and touring local producers purchasing food for an amazing dining experience in the main kitchen of HideAway Haven..

We were asked by the WA Club to donate a 'The HideAway Infusion' together with 3 nights accommodation for their May promotion. They were promoting the regions of Albany and Denmark to their members. Jill and Brian were the lucky winners.

Saturday morning Daniel arrived to pick up our guests and they headed down to the local farmers market. It was a cold blustery day but as usual the atmosphere at the markets was exciting. We bought most of the ingredients for our evening meal and Daniel then took Jill and Brian to several local producers and visited Pepper and Salt Restaurant in Denmark for lunch.

During the evening Daniel delighted us with his passion for local produce during an interactive cooking experience and a delicious dinner.

Birthday Dinner at 'Wild Duck'

Pork roll of confit pork with tomato chutney
cornichons, pork jelly and mustard spinach

Seafood Chowder shot with seared scallop...
I wanted a whole plate of this!!

Wild mushroom risotto with a micro herb salad

Duck Breast with sweet potato puree, spinach and orange glaze

Beef fillet with Persian Feta mash, baby carrot, asparagus, beetroot,
onion jam and red wine glaze

Dark chocolate cheese cake with white chocolate ice cream and ginger Turkish Delight
As it is Becki's birthday we decided to go to the 'Wild Duck' for their degustation menu.  The food couldn't be faulted...Andrew you did an amazing job.

The waitresses although very friendly were not very attentive...we had to ask for water and for pepper.  It was not explained that the wine was an extra....and only small tasting glasses.  After our first course with the wine (40ml), we decided to just buy a bottle to enjoy. With everyone in the restaurant enjoying the menu, the smoke that came out of the dome that had the chowder shots in it was a bit much. Bread is also an extra....

We are glad we went as we can now explain to our guests how the menu works.  Many of our guests have been and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves....would we go again?  Absolutely!!
